Triangle bag

Sometimes i think i should think beyond a tote bag – the rectangle, the very expected..

Today, i did it. i made a triangle bag for a friend’s birthday. while i like to clash the colours but i think staying plain and simple can better portray the unique character of the bag.

Since i cant possibly stop at one, i made another for a friend that loves the colour purple  (just not sure if she likes polka dots).

Each creation takes about 1.2 metres of fabric. i am not complaining as i really really have to clear my stash.. for new fabric of course!

Pocket No Kiso No Kiso – Yoshiko Mizuno

This is a chinese book translated from japanese which is titled basics/foundations of pockets. I am not sure if there is a english version.

There are great details of the various type of pockets mainly set on and set in.

I am more interested in the side pockets for skirts.

I think the diagrams are very clear. The author has other books too on sewing. for example sewing machine basics as well as paper pattern sewing. Hope i can find them from the local library soon!

How to sew pockets – from RickRack

This is a good book for beginners – it touches on the basic techniques in sewing. There are 3 projects ie one mile bag, shorts and t shirt.

I am interested in the making of the pockets for shorts as currently i do not do so. My ds asked where could he put his toy cars or game cards.

Even if you do not understand mandarin, the pictures are quite self explanatory!

I love the subtle contrast in the pockets.

This is a very important set of pictures.

I am quite enlightened by the steps. Incidentally i managed to borrow another book which is solely on pockets. I have borrowed this before but somewhat just flipping through. I guess when there is a need for it one will then research and register more information?

I have not been sewing much this year. Much that i wish to attribute it to lack of new fabric to spin creative ideas, i do have to finish all these fabric stuffed in the house.

I have not been buying any new fabric until i finish half the stash…. hope i can make it work!

Fellow sewers will understand – the stash is never enough!

A round bottom pouch

Christmas will come very soon and it is time to start planning the presents. I have been surfing and find nothing i particularly like to gift to friend.

Luckily i round a round bottom pouch tutorial and started working on the sample.

It is actually a pretty good size.

And as usual i like the insides to be a little more special!

I have started cutting the fabrics and counting the number of BFFs. If you get this in xmas 2016, you mean a lot to me!
