They were at the library close to my house and yes! Seamstress/ tailors have contributed to the growth of Singapore, from a fishing village to a metropolitan city in 50 years.

I do remember sewing from home to earn extra cash was quite a norm in the 70s. My mom was also one of those housewives earning some spare cash to keep the family going.

I do recall seeing a picture of me (probably 5 years old), standing beside mom, who is paddling the manual sewing machine.

Lovely memories!
